FAQ

  • Where are you located?
Rural Route Physio is based out of Wellesley, ON. This is a mobile physiotherapy practice - we come to you! The physiotherapy assessment and treatment happens in your home.
  • Where will you travel to?
The main service area for Rural Route Physio is Wellesley, ON and up to 15km from Wellesley (e.g. Baden, New Hamburg, St. Clements, Linwood, etc). We will travel to locations further away, but the rates may be different. Please contact us to find out more!
  • How should I prepare for my first appointment?
The physiotherapist will bring a treatment table and other equipment needed to your home. Please choose a place in your home to conduct the visit that has space for the table (size of a massage table) and room to move around a little. I do love animals, but if you have a pet that might be unfriendly towards a new person in their home, please secure your pet in another room. Wear comfortable clothes that will allow me to assess your injury (i.e. wearing a sleeveless top to have your shoulder assessed).
  • Do I need a referral from my doctor for physiotherapy?
You can see a physiotherapist without a doctor's referral. However, your extended health benefit plan may require you to have a doctors referral first to be reimbursed for the cost of physiotherapy. It is best to check your extended health benefit plan first to see if you need a referral.
  • Are your physiotherapy services covered by insurance?
I am a registered physiotherapist, and my physiotherapy services can be covered by your extended health benefits. I do not direct bill to your insurance company but you will receive an invoice that you can submit to be reimbursed. Currently, Rural Route Physio does not treat patients through WSIB or MVA (automobile accident) insurance. Rural Route Physio treatments are not covered by OHIP.
  • How do you take payments?
Payment for physiotherapy services is requested after each session. Payment can be made through e-transfer to laurean@ruralroutephysio.ca or with cash. Once payment is received, you will be given a receipt that you can submit to your extended health benefit plan.
  • What precautions are you taking for COVID?
The mask mandate for certain settings, including healthcare, has been extended until June 11 in Ontario. Physiotherapy, even when conducted in the home, is considered a health care setting. The physiotherapist will be waring an N95 mask, and each patient is asked to wear a mask. Before each session, each patient is screened for COVID symptoms. If anyone is experiencing symptoms or does not pass the COVID screening questions, your appointment will be re-scheduled. The physiotherapist will follow the same screening process for herself.
